Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Home Study Distance Learning Degree Programs

Majors available: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, and Self-Designed

Major.

These AAS degree programs are offered through home study by distance learning using study materials available through Adam Smith University. These AAS degree programs require completion of 60 semester hours of undergraduate credit (20 courses) as follows:

 Business Electives                                     15 credits (5 courses):

Complete five three credit business courses excluding courses listed above. Management majors must complete at least three of these five courses with an emphasis on Management subjects. Marketing majors must complete at least three of these five courses with an emphasis on Marketing subjects. Business Administration majors must complete any five business courses. Self-Designed majors must be approved in advance by the university.

Free Electives                                          15 credits (5 courses);

Students may complete any five three credit courses from liberal arts or business courses offered by Adam Smith University excluding courses listed above or taken as business electives listed above.

Each course may be completed by passing an examination in the course. Examinations will be included with the study material sent by the university with each course. All examinations will be graded by our faculty. Postage costs for sending study materials to students outside the United States will be billed to students.

Courses may be transferred from accredited North American colleges, universities and secondary schools and from recognized institutions elsewhere in the world, subject to approval by Adam Smith University. Credit may also be granted for work or other life experience equivalent to university courses after evaluation by Adam Smith University. At least six credits (two courses) in the AAS degree program must be completed at Adam Smith University. There will be no reduction in the total $1250.00 in tuition for courses transferred from other institutions nor for credit given for life or work experience in this AAS home study distance learning degree program.

Students may pay tuition on a course by course basis at a rate of $65.00 per course until the entire tuition of $1250.00 for the AAS degree program has been paid in full. Payment for each course must be made in advance of our mailing the study materials to the student. Tuition for each course includes the study material including the text, study guide and examination and includes the cost of grading the examination. Postage for all study materials sent to students outside the United States will be billed to students and no credit can be given for any course taken until the tuition and postage (if any) has been paid. All payments must be made in United States dollars. Students also pay an application fee of $50.00. There are no other fees in this AAS degree program.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Home Study Distance Learning Degree Programs

 

Majors Available: Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Self- Designed major.

 The BBA degree programs are offered through home study by distance learning using study materials available through Adam Smith University. These BBA degree programs require completion of 120 semester hours of undergraduate courses (40 courses) as follows:

Students may choose any two courses (Except required courses listed above) in Art, English (except ENG 101-102), History, Music, Philosophy, or Religion to fulfill this part of the liberal arts required courses.

Science or Mathematics Electives            3 credits (1 course): Students may choose either SCI 101 General Physical Science or MAT 103 Basic Business Mathematics or another Science or Mathematics course to fulfill this part of the liberal arts required courses.

Self-Designed majors must choose any five courses approved by the university.

Free Electives                                            48 credits (16 courses):

 Students may choose any 16 courses from liberal arts and business courses offered not chosen above.

 Each course may be completed by passing an examination in the course. Examinations will be included with the study material sent by the university with each course. All examinations will be graded by our faculty. Postage costs for sending study materials to students outside the United States will be billed to students.

 Courses may be transferred from accredited North American colleges, universities and secondary schools and from recognized institutions in Asia, Europe, Latin America, Australia and Africa, subject to approval by Adam Smith University. Credit may also be granted for work or other life experience equivalent to university courses after evaluation by Adam Smith University. At least six credits (two courses) in the BBA degree program must be completed at Adam Smith University. There will be no reduction in the total $2500.00 in tuition for courses transferred from other institutions nor for credit given for life or work experience in this BBA home study distance learning degree program.

 Students may pay tuition on a course by course basis at a rate of $65.00 per course until they complete payment of the tuition of $2500.00 for the BBA degree progam. Payment for each course must be made in advance of our mailing the study materials to the student. Tuition for each course includes the study material including the text, study guide and examination and includes the cost of grading the examination. Postage for all study materials sent to students outside the United States will be billed to students and no credit can be given for any course taken until the tuition and postage (if any) has been paid. Students also pay an application fee of $50.00. There are no other fees for this BBA degree program.

Master of Business Administration (MBA) Home Study Distance Learning Programs

 

Majors available: Business Administration, Management, Marketing and Self-Designed Major.

 These MBA degree programs are offered through home study by distance learning using study materials available through commercial publishing companies. These MBA programs require the completion of 15 credits (5 courses) of prerequisite courses (some or all of these courses may be waived by completion of undergraduate courses at Adam Smith University with a grade of pass or equivalent courses at other accredited North American universities or recognized universities elsewhere in the world with a grade of C or better or a grade of pass or through equivalent work experience as evaluated by Adam Smith University). After completion of the required prerequisite courses the student in the MBA home study distance learning program at Adam Smith University is required to complete five courses (15 graduate credits) and five elective courses (15 graduate credits) to complete the MBA home study distance learning program as follows:

Each MBA prerequisite or graduate course may be successfully completed by passing an examination developed by Adam Smith University for the course. Examinations may be taken at home and mailed to the university for grading on a pass/fail basis. Alternatively, a student may submit 1-3 page essays on five topics of the student's choice in any course. The essays will be graded by our faculty on a pass/fail basis.

 

Students who have not studied business or economics at the undergraduate level may have to take up to five prerequisite courses as described above for up to 15 credits (5 courses) in addition to 30 credits (10 courses) at the MBA level. . Most students who have completed an undergraduate degree in business will need to take only 30 MBA level semester hours of credit (10 courses) to complete the MBA program. Courses may be transferred from accredited North American graduate schools of business or from recognized institutions elsewhere in the world subject to approval by the university. Work experience may be accepted in lieu of courses as approved by the university. At least 6 graduate credits (2 courses) mist be taken at Adam Smith University in the MBA home study distance learning program. Students transferring graduate courses will pay the same tuition for 10 graduate courses as will be paid by students taking all of their graduate MBA courses at Adam Smith University. Students needing to take prerequisite courses at Adam Smith University will pay for these prerequisite courses at the undergraduate tuition rate of $65.00 per three credit undergraduate course.

 

Tuition for the home study distance learning MBA program is $65.00 for each three credit prerequisite course and $150.00 for each MBA graduate three credit course.

Students may pay a fee of $150.00 per course at the time of enrollment in each course. The cost of required text books for the MBA graduate courses are paid directly by the student to any bookstore chosen by the student. The cost of the MBA program is $1500.00 for the ten MBA graduate required courses. If graduate courses are transferred from other institutions or waived due to life or work experience accepted as graduate credit by the university, there will be no reduction in tuition. Students also pay an application fee of $50.00. All fees are paid in United States dollars. There are no other fees in the MBA program.

Adam Smith University of America joint degree programs with the International School of Surveying and Building Studies, 507 Water Gardens Water Port Wharf, Gibraltar

 

Joint Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program with majors in Quantity Surveying or Building Studies.

 

Students majoring in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management for the AAS degree from Adam Smith University and the certificate in Quantity Surveying or Building Studies from the International School will begin by completing their program in Quantity Surveying or Building Studies from the International School. When they graduate from the International School they will enroll in the AAS degree program at Adam Smith University. Students who have successfully completed the program in Quantitative Surveying or Building Studies at the International School will enroll in the Adam Smith University AAS degree program. They will receive 30 semester hours of credit from their program at the International School.

 

Students will pay the tuition and fees charged by the International School at whatever tuition and fees are charged by that school. Graduates of the International School will pay Adam Smith University a fee of $500.00 for the Adam Smith University portion of the joint degree program at the time of enrollment. Students who enroll in this joint program and have received a secondary school diploma from a British secondary school or from a Commonwealth secondary school on the British system of education, will receive 30 credits in Advanced Standing from Adam Smith University and will be eligible to receive their AAS degree without any further study. Students on the American system of education will be required to complete 15 credits in liberal arts and 15 credits in business courses (they will complete the same 15 required liberal arts and the same required 15 credits in business courses as required by the AAS degree program in business) to complete their AAS degree in Quantity Surveying or Building Studies. The reason for the difference is that a British Secondary School diploma is generally the equivalent of the completion of one year of American college or university. Transfer courses may be accepted by Adam Smith University to complete some of these academic requirements but the tuition fee shall not be reduced for students transferring credit from other universities.

 

Joint Bachelor of Science degree program with a major in Quantity Surveying and Building Studies.

 

Students who have successfully completed both the program in Quantity Surveying and the program in Building Studies at the International School may receive 60 credits toward the 120 credits needed to receive the Bachelor of Science degree from Adam Smith University with a major in Quantity Surveying and Building Studies.

 

Students will pay the tuition and the fees charged by the International School at whatever tuition and fees are charged by that school. Graduates of both programs at the International School will pay Adam Smith University tuition of $1000.00 for the Adam Smith University portion of the joint BS degree program at the time of enrollment. Fees may be paid over time with no interest payment in payments of $50 per month. No transcript nor degree will be issued by Adam Smith University until the entire tuition has been paid in full. Transfer courses from other universities may be accepted toward the academic requirements but the tuition for the BS degree program will not be reduced if such courses are accepted.

 

Students who enroll in this joint program and have received a secondary school diploma from a British secondary school or from a Commonwealth secondary school on the British system of education will receive 30 credits in Advanced Standing from Adam Smith University and need to successfully complete  15 credits in liberal arts electives and 15 credits in business electives from Adam Smith University to fulfill the academic requirements for the BS degree.
